Matthew Smith has been a good lecturer so far. He's very knowledgeable and willing to help students. The tutor is very good and is trying really hard to make us understand the content, which can be quite challenging at times. Overall, it's a course worth doing.
Denny and Aryusha did not do a great layout of the course. Majority of the course was multiple choice. Which is a terrible way of testing students. The midsem was 30% all MC, 20% quiz and the final exam 23 MC questions worth 1.52% each, leaving the short answers only worth 15%. MC does not allow the student to apply any of the knowledge they have learnt. It is a shame that a core subject is laid out this way. Teaching is about learning, not about setting students up for failure.
If your lecturer is Matthew Smith then consider yourself very lucky. His exams are very theoretical and conceptual. Exams are essay based. However if you have another lecturer be prepared to be drowned with very hard maths and a high likelihood of failure ESP if you struggled in first year macro and micro. Unit experience highly dependent on the lecturer you get
Easy subject. Follows on from 1002 quite well. Practice doing essay type responses emphasising quality>quantity.
